after realizing that i have become mildly plump over this summer (x-tight jeans no longer fit and have sadly had to be retired for the season), i have decided to turn over a new leaf.

i have signed up for a two-week pilates module at the gym, tuesday-thursday from 12-1. if i like it i'm going to sign up for the whole semester. i have heard that pilates is fun, although it kills you the first couple of times. whatever, i get to play with a giant beach ball. if that doesnt make exercise fun i dont know what does.

this post is mostly for the attention of projectjulie (i still dont know how to make that html command thing work, sorry), who i hope will also sign up for pilates this fall so we can be workout-buddies.

i woke up to torrential rainfall today. it rained all night and its raining so much right now that the water is coming into our houses. people are saying that this rain is like the 2005 rain that made the city go under water....i hope this isnt true, a whole lot of people died, and the government has really done nothing since then to prepare for a rain like this.

i was supposed to meet erika and shanay tonight (erika is visiting bombay) but i guess that isnt happening. the buses, trains and cabs have stopped running and a lot of the roads have been blocked off. erika is supposed to leave tomorrow night on a plane, but if it continues like this there's no way the airport will be open tomorrow. maybe i'll have a houseguest:)

anyway, for all of my friends: i may try to call you from skype sometime over this summer/monsoon. the number will show up either as 'no number' or '00123456'. if you see this, its probably me.

i'll update re: the rain later.

i have just anointed myself with julie's gift of a bar of lavender and ylang ylang moisturizing bar. ooh the overpowering smell, the slight sticky mess! i love it.

i am simultaneously trying to read heidegger, which is challenging, since i got so little sleep last night from josh tossing and turning and being all cracked out from drinking too much coffee. i am not sure how to get josh to de-stress. feeding him a lot of beer just makes him sleep in longer, but not much less stressed.

also, I AM MOVING TO THE EAST SIDE!! look below for pictures of my new residence as of June 1. i was having a hard time making up my mind to leave my far away, yet gorgeous current home, but this sweet sweet apartment on wayland square, the included utilities and the close-by presence of plasticity and projectjulie will help me to cope with my pain.

david claims there is free overnight parking in the wayland square area. can anyone confirm this?

yesterday was a day of small disasters. first it had snowed so much that my car skidded like crazy coming out of my ridiculous driveway and i broke the mirror. then josh and i had to shovel under the tires to get them to stop spinning. somewhere along this process i realized that i must have dropped my phone in the snow the previous night, also, while shoveling snow off my car. panic ensued. but we finally got the car to move, and then went back to where i thought i had dropped my phone...and it was there!!!! alive!!! can you beleive it? it totally survived its outdoor adventure. there was not a spot of moisture inside it.

however, if you try to reach me in the next few days and fail, then you can assume the other shoe dropped.

i have to write a fellowship application now, what a bore. i would rather crawl back into bed and have someone spoon coffee into my mouth at a later point in the afternoon.

i am at the edge.
